These are the questions customers actually email us, not "what is ancestral nutrition" but "do I take these with breakfast" and "will they survive my kitchen cupboard." Short, honest answers below, straight from our labels and our Toronto shipping desk.
How many beef liver capsules should I take a day?
Follow the label, which was written for exactly this question. For Rise Grass-Fed Beef Liver, the serving is 4 capsules a day (3,000 mg of freeze-dried liver), so the 120-capsule bottle lasts 30 days. The Organ Complex serving is 6 capsules, also 3,000 mg total, split evenly across liver, heart, kidney, pancreas and spleen. The Women's formula is 2 capsules daily. More is not better: liver is rich in preformed vitamin A, and the serving sizes are set to keep intake in a sensible range. Stay at the label.
Should I take organ capsules with food or on an empty stomach?
Our labels say with water or food, and that's genuinely as precise as the evidence gets. There's no solid data showing organ capsules absorb meaningfully better fed or fasted. This is freeze-dried food, not a drug with a bioavailability chart. What actually matters is consistency: nutrients restore status over weeks of daily use, so pick the moment you'll never forget, with morning coffee, with dinner, wherever the habit sticks. One practical note: if your stomach is sensitive, take them with a meal. A handful of capsules on an empty stomach can feel heavy for some people, the same way any concentrated food can.
Do beef liver capsules taste like liver?
No, and that's rather the entire business model. The liver is freeze-dried, milled and sealed inside a gelatin capsule, so you swallow it like any other capsule: no liver flavour, no aftertaste, no burps that report back later. If you loved pan-fried liver and onions, you wouldn't need us. Capsules exist precisely for the majority of people who want liver's nutrition without renegotiating their relationship with its taste.
Can men take the Women's formula?
It wouldn't harm you. It's beef organs, not a hormone product. But it's the wrong tool. Beef Organ for Women is portioned around female iron needs (Health Canada sets women's iron intake at 18 mg a day versus 8 mg for men) and includes bovine uterus and ovary glandulars selected for that reader. A man gets a better spectrum for his money from the Grass-Fed Beef Organ Complex: liver, heart, kidney, pancreas and spleen, 600 mg of each per serving.
How should I store organ supplements?
A cool, dry place with the lid on tight, exactly what the label says. A kitchen cupboard away from the stove and the kettle is ideal. No fridge required; freeze-drying already removed the water that would make refrigeration matter, and a cold fridge can actually introduce condensation every time the bottle comes out. The same rule covers our Bovine Colostrum Powder: keep the jar sealed, keep the scoop dry, keep it out of steamy spots. Humidity is the only real enemy here.
Do organ capsules break a fast?
Honest answer: they're food. A full serving is about 3 grams of freeze-dried organs, roughly 10–12 calories. So a strictly zero-calorie fast? Technically, yes, broken. A practical 16:8-style fast where a rounding error of calories doesn't matter? Most people wouldn't count it, though that's a judgment call, not physiology. Religious fasts have their own rules. That's between you and your tradition, not us. The simplest solution, and what most of our customers do: take the capsules with your first meal of the day. Nothing about them requires an empty stomach.
Can I give beef liver capsules to my kids?
Our labels say individuals under 18 should consult a physician first, and that is the answer, not a legal formality we're winking past. Children's nutrient needs, especially for vitamin A, are different from adults', and serving sizes on our bottles were set for adult bodies. If your practitioner looks at your child's diet and gives a specific go-ahead, that's their call to make with the full picture in front of them. Until then, the label stands.
What happens if I miss a few days?
Nothing dramatic. Nutrient status moves over weeks, not days. That's the same reason we tell people to judge these supplements after four to eight weeks of consistent use, not four to eight hours. Missing a weekend doesn't undo a month. When you restart, just resume the normal label serving. Don't double up to "catch up": liver's preformed vitamin A is exactly the kind of nutrient where stacking servings is the wrong instinct. Consistency wins; perfection is not required.
Do you ship across Canada? How fast?
Yes. Rise ships across Canada, and orders typically arrive in 1–3 business days. Because we're based in Toronto and everything ships domestically, there are no cross-border surprises: no duties, no customs holds, no bottle sitting in a warehouse on the wrong side of the border. That's one of the quieter advantages of buying Canadian rather than importing from a US organ-supplement brand: the price on the checkout page is the price.
Is the packaging bilingual? Is it actually made in Canada?
Yes and yes. Every Rise label is bilingual English/French, as Canadian packaging should be. Rise is a Toronto brand, and the organs come from pasture-raised cattle raised in New Zealand and Australia that are grass-fed and grass-finished, raised without antibiotics or added hormones. On the regulatory side: our Beef Liver and Bovine Colostrum are NPN certified (Health Canada's natural product licence), and NPN applications are in progress for the Organ Complex and Women's formula. If a brand can't tell you what country its cattle lived in, the answer is usually "the cheapest one." Ours is Canada, on the label, in both official languages.
