Regenerative Farms in Manitoba: 8 Grass-Fed Farms That Deliver to Winnipeg (2026)

Regenerative Farms in Manitoba: 8 Grass-Fed Farms That Deliver to Winnipeg (2026)

Last updated: August 3, 2026. Farm details verified at the time of writing; confirm availability with each farm directly.

Manitoba might be the most underrated grass-fed province in Canada. Multi-generational farms (one operating since 1901) run weekly delivery routes into Winnipeg and Brandon, selling pastured meat at prairie prices that would make a Toronto buyer weep.

How this list was made: every farm below was verified individually (live website, direct-to-consumer sales, and real pasture practices). No feedlots wearing a grass-fed costume, no dead links, no directory spam. Grain-finished operations didn't make the cut.

How buying from a farm works (if you never have)

Most of these farms sell three ways: individual cuts from an online store (easiest start), bundle boxes (best variety per dollar), and bulk shares: a quarter, half or whole animal, by far the best price per pound if you have freezer space. A quarter beef fits in a 7 cu ft chest freezer. Order on the farm's website, and don't be shy about emailing the farmer with questions. They answer, usually personally, usually fast.

The part of the animal your farm order won’t include

Here is what happens with almost every quarter- or half-beef order in Manitoba. You get steaks, roasts and ground. You do not get the liver, the heart or the kidney: the three most nutrient-dense cuts on the animal. They are left at the abattoir, or they come home and sit in the freezer until someone quietly throws them out. Ask a farmer and most will tell you the same thing: they can rarely give organs away, because almost nobody asks for them.

That is the gap worth naming. You did the hard part: found the farm, checked how the cattle are actually finished, committed to the freezer space and the up-front cost. And the single thing that most separates pasture-raised from supermarket beef still never reaches the plate.

If your farm will sell you organs, take them. Genuinely. Fresh liver from a farm you have vetted yourself is the best version of this, and it is usually the cheapest protein on the price list. Ask for the liver, heart and kidney when you book. Most farms are glad someone finally did.

If they will not part with them, or the taste and the once-a-year timing are the real barriers, that is the narrow problem we make a product for. Our organs are pasture-raised in New Zealand and Australia, grass-fed and grass-finished year-round, then freeze-dried at low temperature and encapsulated here in Canada. We name the origin openly because a single-ingredient label has nowhere to hide.

Frequently asked questions

Where can you buy grass-fed beef in Manitoba?

The most direct route is buying from a verified regenerative farm, and this guide lists every one we could verify in the province, including Fresh Roots Farm, Graze Meat Company and Hillview Livestock. Most sell by the cut, the box or the quarter, and several deliver to Winnipeg.

To find regenerative farms near you anywhere in Canada, search your postal code in the Rise regenerative farm finder. And if your farm order skips the organs, that is the gap our freeze-dried organ complex exists to fill.

Which farms deliver to Winnipeg?

Based on what the farms themselves publish: Hillview Livestock, Luna Field Farm, The Dogs Run Farm. Delivery zones change seasonally, so confirm on the farm's site, or search your postal code in the Rise Farm Finder to see every farm near you, sorted by distance.

Is everything on this list really pasture-raised?

Every farm here was verified individually: live website, direct sales, and published pasture practices. Grain-finished operations were excluded, even popular ones. Practices can change, so we re-verify the list periodically and remove farms that no longer qualify.

How much does buying a quarter cow cost?

Most farms price bulk beef by hanging weight, and a quarter typically yields 80–110 lb of cut-and-wrapped beef, enough to fill a 7 cu ft chest freezer. Per-pound it works out well below retail for the same quality. Exact prices are on each farm's site; many take deposits and sell out months ahead, so book early.

What does 'regenerative' actually mean on a Manitoba farm?

In practice: animals raised on pasture their whole lives, moved frequently (rotational or adaptive grazing) so the land recovers and improves, without routine antibiotics or added hormones. Labels vary: 'grass-fed and grass-finished,' 'certified organic,' 'Certified Grassfed by AGW.' Read how each farm describes finishing, and ask them directly. Real farmers love this question.
