Most grocery store gelatin in Canada is Knox, which its Canadian maker says comes from a pork source. For beef gelatin, look to health food stores (Organika, and Great Lakes when in stock), the Walmart.ca marketplace (NOW Foods), Amazon.ca (Elo’s, Great Lakes), iHerb Canada (Micro Ingredients) or a brand that ships from Canada, like Rise at $29.99 CAD for 454 g.
We make a competing product, so every fact about other brands below comes from their own store, label, FAQ or retailer pages. Prices are in CAD from our checks on October 11 to 12, 2026, unless marked, and change often.

Per 100 g is our arithmetic from each listed price. Vital Proteins Beef Gelatin was not on vitalproteins.ca, Walmart.ca or Amazon.ca when we checked; its Canadian site sells collagen peptides.
Three checks before you buy
- Beef or pork: many grocery gelatins do not name the animal. If you avoid pork, buy one labelled bovine or beef.
- Gelatin, not collagen peptides: peptides dissolve in cold drinks and never set. Gummies, panna cotta and marshmallows need gelatin.
- Price per 100 g: 7 g packets look cheap but cost more per gram than a bag; compare per 100 g in Canadian dollars.
Swapping from Knox? One 7 g packet is about 2 1/4 teaspoons. Use 7 g of beef gelatin in its place, and bloom it in cold liquid for 5 minutes first.
